I enjoy sharing my journey with Lyme disease because it’s something that has become an important part of who I am. But something that is just as important, that I often overlook, is my journey TO Lyme.

I didn’t just roll into my primary care office as a 13 year old back in 2005 and come out with my Lyme diagnosis.

One would be hard pressed to find a Lyme patient who got their diagnosis on the first attempt. Or second. Or even third. For most it takes countless doctors and sometimes years of feeling terrible until they finally get some insight into the disease that has been wreaking havoc with their body.

My story is very similar to most, unfortunately. My family took me from doctor to doctor, specialist to specialist, and no one knew what was wrong. Misdiagnoses were made. Blame was thrown. And accusations were made.

It was a disheartening, aggravating, winding road to my Lyme disease diagnosis. But I finally made it.

Now you can see how it all began.
